Lupta Hostel Patong Hideaway

The location is a real plus, right beside patong beach and Bangla walking street. It’s a small hostel, with a little dining area where you can eat and chat with other guests. The privacy setup is nice, and there’s a locker by your bed. The receptionists are friendly, most of them! I do think the bathroom needs better cleaning, and the AC in my room wasn’t working properly and was dripping water. Still, I’d recommend it.

For under 400 baht (12usd), you get a curtained bed, free coffee, purified water, and a basic breakfast. I checked for bedbugs by turning the mattress over, and there were NONE. This hostel was cleaner than my pricey, bougie hotel in Bangkok. Bring your own lock for the lockers. Each bed has an outlet, a shelf, and a light, and they speak English. You’re right next to the craziest street in the world, so bring earplugs. AWESOME HOSTEL!!!!

If you’re in Phuket to party and drink, the location is great, close to bars and clubs. But you can hear the music and crowds in your room. I was there for local tours, and couldn’t deal with the noise or the room. The hostel is tiny, with little room to chat or hang out. The bathroom was disgusting and smelly, with only two showers, one of them broken. My bed had sand all over it and I couldn’t sleep. Shoes and flip-flops aren’t allowed indoors, but the floors were filthy and sandy. The floor and bed had sand despite the no-shoes rule; the bathroom smelled awful, and there was urine in the toilets. You have to walk in barefoot. I’ve stayed in plenty of hostels, and I paid for 4 nights, but I couldn’t take it and checked out on the second day to move elsewhere. It’s not a good fit if cleanliness matters to you. The location is convenient, but there are better places in the same convenient area. I stayed just one night and gave up the rest of my booking.

The beds are comfortable and very clean, with curtains that make your space feel almost like a private pod. You get your own outlet and a lockable cubby, and there are washing machines available. The staff are friendly, the location is great, and I made lots of new friends on my first night. Definitely recommend!
