I arrived on foot without a reservation, and they kindly gave me a nice room at a good price. I was pleasantly surprised when the maid came in to clean, change the linens, and replace the towels.

Good sauces really matter with meat fondue, but the three here weren’t very edible. The fries were hard and rather cold, and unlike what I’m used to in Switzerland, they weren’t refilled here. The owner seemed more interested in tapping away on his phone than saying hello or asking how the food was. If he doesn’t want customers, he knows how to show it. A pity.

I’ve been coming back to stay with Martin & Pom on holiday for 11 years, and I’ve always enjoyed it. The rooms are clean, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable. It all makes for a nice stay.

It’s a cosy, old-school place, and the cheese fondue is fantastic. As far as I know, it’s the only one in Patong.

A lovely little hotel, with a nice owner and good food at the bar.
