Patong Diamond Hotel

Room 602 on the sixth floor was the dirtiest room I’ve ever seen, and even the towels were torn. The two beds had been pushed together, which made sleeping very difficult. The AC didn’t work properly either.

We’ve been at this budget hotel for almost a week after booking online, and check-in with our reservation was easy. It’s an old building, but the room gets cleaned every day, and we haven’t had any power outages. Some rooms have no windows, but you can ask reception for a better one. We were lucky to have no mosquitoes in ours. The receptionists were at the desk when we went out. There were three in the morning, and just one in the evening and middle of the night. They kindly gave us bottled water and fresh towels, and changed the sheets when we asked. I’m a tourist too, and I think how you approach Thai people matters. Ask politely and they’ll help you get what you need. A review from a few days earlier seemed to criticize things without researching the area and country. I don’t like the smell they mentioned either, but it’s legal here.

We had planned a full month at Patong Diamond Hotel with three rooms for my two friends and me, but checked out early and lost money for the hotel because of Lin’s behavior. She was rude and unprofessional whenever we went to the desk with a simple question, and on several occasions raised her voice for no reason. When we accidentally left our key inside the room and asked for help, she seemed irritated and unwilling to assist. Other guests told us they’d had similar experiences with her. She seemed friendly to supervisors, but not to guests, which isn’t acceptable for someone at the front desk. It’s a shame, because Patamma and the man receptionist working at night were extremely kind and professional, and made us feel welcome and appreciated. Lin did not.

The room smelled really bad, and the towels were old and torn. The facilities weren’t the same when we stayed on the following day.
