The showers have heaters, shower gel and even a moisturizing face wash, and the toilets were clean. There’s a café attached, with plenty of shops, bars and clubs nearby. Walking Street is about a 15-minute walk away. A bed in the 8-bed dorm was 300 baht a night, so it’s an affordable, decent hostel. If I come to Pattaya on my own again, I’d stay here.

I came back for a second stay because 18 coins hostel feels right in the middle of everything. The beach is nearby, and so are the nightlife spots and party clubs. Shared rooms are available at both the hostel and hotel, with separate rooms and washrooms for women. Reception is staffed around the clock, and you can pay in cash. The location is great and the rooms are cheap. The odd part is that you can only lock the door while you're inside. When you leave the room, you can't lock it, which is the one big letdown.

I was greeted by friendly staff in the evening. The person who checked me out wasn't friendly, but wasn't rude either. The room itself was decent, with AC, a big locker and barely any noise. I can't really blame the staff, though. Living in this city permanently would probably make me rude too.

The staff were awesome, friendly and spoke English pretty well. My room was clean and had a sheet and blanket. LK Metro is close, and both the beach and Walking Street are within walking distance.
