Aiyaree Place Hotel

The room was roomy and breezy, with a huge balcony that I appreciated. It's near a lot of restaurants and main roads. The place is a little dated, though I am too. The buffet wasn't the best, but it was good enough.

I've been living in the hotel for 10 months, and I'm from the UK. The pool is fabulous, the cleaners do a very good job, and they're friendly, though they don't speak English. Breakfast buffet has an amazing amount of choice and I love Asian food. I just wish they had wholemeal bread. One downside: the parking area assigned for scooters is being used as a workshop for welding, drilling, grinding metal items and painting chairs.

I barely ate breakfast during my stay, just twice, and I wish I hadn't paid for it with the room. For European tastes, the choice was only white toast with jam and muesli. The rest was mostly Asian food, which in my opinion was inadequate and could be better quality, plus fruit. I usually enjoy hot Asian food for lunch or dinner, but I can't face it at breakfast. The hours were frustrating too: breakfast ended at 10:00 am, and when I got to the room at 09:55, the food had already been cleared. Staff seemed keen to close the room quickly, which is often used for events with outside guests. With the limited options and hours, I usually had to eat outside and pay again. That gave me more choice and let me pick the time, so booking without breakfast would have been better. The hotel seems geared toward Chinese tourists, as you can see from things like the clocks in the lobby. Large groups often arrived late at night and moved noisily through the buildings, like small children. There are two buildings. A has larger rooms, some with balconies, while B has smaller rooms without them. I was in Building B, where the cleaners did an outstanding job. I saw their work a few times, and I've never experienced better cleaning staff in a hotel. The care they put into cleaning rooms after guests leave is impressive. They're committed people, and deserve a bonus.

We had a great experience. For $18 a night, including buffet breakfast, the pool and clean surroundings, it's a great deal. The staff were nice, and there's laundry service priced by item. Jeans, for example, cost 20 baht. The hotel seems to be fully booked most of the time. Be aware that late checkout costs extra. We forgot our checkout date and had to pay 😁😅. I would definitely recommend this place.
