Amethyst Hotel Pattaya

The pool, food, towels, cleanliness, and even the scent of the shampoo and body soap are all excellent. I’d love it if the hotel sold those fragrances so guests could take the memories home. I keep returning mainly because of the staff, especially the front desk team. They look after my safety and are always glad to help. Seeing Pimei at reception each morning makes me smile. There is construction noise during the day, and a loud pub across the street can be noisy late at night, sometimes into the early hours. It’s worth considering if you’re planning to stay. If the noise is still like this next year and prices keep going up, I may have to find somewhere else, even though I love the staff and have a very positive opinion of the hotel. I think the hotel should take this unusually high level of day and night noise into account when setting prices.

I loved staying here and will be back later this year. The rooftop pool has a bar and towels ready, and reception always had plenty of staff around if I needed anything. The doorman greeted me every morning and evening, a really nice touch. The hotel sits just off busy soi Bukeau, close to the action but quiet enough if that’s not your thing. Walk about 200m to the left through the Avenue shopping centre, then onto second road and down a soi, and you’ll reach beach road. The lift uses card entry for security. My stylish room had a comfortable bed and a decent bathroom with everything I needed. It was cleaned promptly and to a high standard. The view wasn’t the best, but I didn’t mind.

The staff were excellent, from the doormen and receptionists to housekeeping, and the breakfast buffet had a good range of food that was topped up often. The location works well if you want to explore Soi Buakhao without staying in the middle of all the bustle. If you receive an email offering online check-in, use it. It speeds things up a lot. I was in my room within a couple of minutes of entering the front doors.

The only thing that bothered me was being charged for a glass we accidentally broke at the downstairs bar. Accidents happen, and I’ve never been charged for a broken glass during any of my hotel stays. They should stop doing this, because it left a bad taste after what was otherwise a perfect stay. It’s a new hotel, finished beautifully with lovely fixtures and fittings. The staff were super friendly and attentive, the pool area was nice, and breakfast was decent.
