Argyle Apartments Pattaya

We’d booked seven nights just three hours before arriving. The room we were shown was on the third level, there was no elevator, and it looked old and run-down, nothing like the online photos. They moved us to another room, which was even worse. After about an hour we reached a manager. I explained what had happened and offered to pay for the first night if the rest could be refunded. At first he said he didn’t know the terms and conditions. When I explained it was a non-refundable booking but asked him to consider that the hotel had no elevator and wasn’t as shown online, he said, “Well that's bad luck mate. That's just how it is these days.” Guests should be aware of the manager’s poor attitude. It seemed they were close to fully booked, since the site I used showed only one room left.

The biggest problem for us was having no lift. The large pool also wasn’t maintained well, with a layer of mosquitoes on the surface. We spent two nights in the penthouse, which runs from the 3rd to the 5th floor. The 3rd floor has the hall, dining area, kitchen, and bathroom; the 4th has two bedrooms and two bathrooms; and the 5th has another bedroom and the terrace. The terrace has a really good beach view and is a nice place to relax. There’s a TV and recliner sofas in the hall, and the kitchen has utensils for cooking and serving.

We arrived for our two-night booking at Argyle Apartment Bangkok and were told someone else was already in our room. They sent us to Argyle Apartment 2 instead, where the WiFi didn’t work. We complained repeatedly, but nothing was fixed. Eventually we were moved back to the room we’d booked. After we went out, they accused us of breaking the TV, even though we never touched it. There hadn’t been working WiFi to use it anyway. A new so-called owner came in and aggressively blamed us for damage we hadn’t caused. The place itself called the police, who seemed to take their side. Their only evidence was a remote on the tea table, which they used to claim we’d broken the TV. It felt staged from start to finish. This was a terrible experience. The place seemed dishonest, unprofessional, and predatory. Avoid staying here.

The staff are lovely and the location is excellent. The three-bed apartment is especially good value, with loads of space and it was clean.
