Ben & Lek Guesthouse

The owner and his dog made me feel very welcome, and that made the stay special. He’s an older man, in his late 70s, working hard to earn a living. Keeping everything up with just one helper can’t be easy, but he handles it with humility and generosity. The rates are very affordable. I had a wonderful stay, and hope people will show the small business some courtesy and empathy instead of leaving reviews that could hurt it.

We were happy guests and would definitely come back if we visit Pattaya again. Our family of four stayed for about two months, and the price was affordable. The place has a swimming pool and a room with a pool table. The owner, I think his name was Ben or Daniel, was an older man from Europe. He kindly moved us to a bigger room, which we really appreciated. We knew it wasn’t a four- or five-star hotel, so we weren’t expecting a sparkling-clean room or everything to be perfect.

We were travelling as a family and were amazed by the size of our room. It had two king-size beds and three extra beds, enough for ten people easily. The toilet was very clean and tidy, and the manager was incredibly kind, helpful, and spoke English well. Cleaning was decent and things were kept tidy. It’s one of the cheapest hotels with lots to do, including cooking, billiards, swimming, and more. One note: there weren’t many cooking utensils, and they weren’t standard.

The bed was worn out, with springs you could feel and a hole in it, so sleeping was uncomfortable. The room floor was dirty too. I kept stepping on old rice and hair left by previous renters. The bathroom smelled awful, and I was missing a siphon at the washbasin. I think that may be causing the smell, and the owner could fix it easily if he wanted to. The owner is old and seemed disengaged. If you like having a pool, the place may be okay for this price. If you’re like me and don’t care about the pool, stay somewhere else.
