Lomtalay Tawaen Beach

We’re a vegetarian family, and the host kindly agreed to change our breakfast menu. I’m really grateful. During our stay at other hotels on the beach, we’ll still plan to spend time here because it’s less crowded. Tawaen Beach hotel made being at this beach very comfortable, and I’ll definitely come back. The rooms were clean and convenient compared with other hotels on this beach. They offer free transfers to and from the pier. I didn’t know they could pick us up there, so perhaps you need to tell them before you arrive, but they had no problem taking us to the pier after checkout. I changed hotels to try different services and asked them to keep my small bag for one or two days before I booked here again. They stored it for free without asking questions. Towels and beach seats are free for guests. Staff are around, our things felt safe with them, and there’s a toilet nearby. It’s so convenient. If you’re staying at another hotel, seats cost 100 baht for a small chair or 200 baht for a big one. Extra towels cost more, but I don’t know how much. 💞

The dinner served right on the beach was a nice extra, and there was an exciting fire show. The hotel is right on the beach, so we spent as much time outside as we could. The room is very small, and it’s a bit of a walk from the dock since it’s near the end.

The location was fairly decent, but there were no rooms with a sea view, and guests had to pay to use the sunbeds. The bigger problem was the service. The two women at reception seemed unfriendly and impatient with us. They pushed costly activities, yet their attitude changed when we asked about cheaper options we actually wanted. They often answered without looking at us, turning away and speaking rudely. The bathroom water pressure was too weak to rinse sand off properly. There was also a dog roaming around the hotel and restaurant while people were eating, which felt unhygienic. I came away with the opposite impression of Thai friendliness from what I’d expected. The hotel needs to improve its customer service. I had a very bad stay and would avoid it unless there’s no other option.

The location is good, and the staff were friendly. For the price, it’s fine as long as you keep your expectations modest. Our room was basic but roomy, and the old AC really ought to be replaced. On our second night it began making such loud, awful noises that we couldn’t sleep with it running, even wearing earplugs.
