Mermaid's Beach Resort Jomtien

A real gem, close to the beach, bars and restaurants. The room was clean, with good air conditioning and a fan. Reception and housekeeping were fantastic, friendly and always happy to help. The bar staff were less engaging and not especially friendly, which was disappointing after how welcoming people are at bars and restaurants elsewhere in Thailand. Thanks for a great stay.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the hotel is near the beach. But our stay was disappointing. The toilet in our fifth-floor room, 507, blocked on the first day and was never properly working again, so we had to use the ground-floor bathrooms for number twos. Breakfast was very ordinary and didn't start until 8.00am, too late when you have a big day planned. The hotel is beside the busy nightlife on Soi 7, with noise until at least 11 pm. That might suit some people, but my wife and I weren't looking for bar girls. The price was OK, but it didn't feel like value for money, and I wouldn't recommend the place.

We paid 6000 THB for two nights, 21-23 november, in room 301, and didn't get the room we'd reserved. The location is good, the breakfast very good, and the pool is nice. But the beds were terrible, and on Saturday the noise outside went on past 3 in the morning. The AC was either on full blast or off, so we had to turn it off at night.

I had a really enjoyable stay at Mermaids. The staff, from reception and the bar to the room maids, were courteous and friendly, and the bar/pool area is superb. The location has loads of bars, restaurants and music venues nearby. I arrived at noon but had to wait until 2pm to check in, though I believe my room was ready at noon. My room was comfortable, nicely decorated and had a great bathroom. Calling it a “Sea View” room is a bit of a stretch, though. I was on the 5th floor overlooking soi 7, and the street and bar noise didn't bother me.
