Mountain Beach Resort & Convention Center

Breakfast could use more English food, especially a traditional English breakfast. Other than that, Mountain Beach Resort was a superb place to stay in Pattaya, and I'd happily recommend it. The accommodation was spacious, comfortable, and well maintained, with welcoming, professional staff who seemed well trained. For the money, it felt close to perfect.

The bed felt wobbly, as if its wheels or supports were broken, and the room lighting was so weak it seemed stuck at 5% brightness. The toilet flush had a mind of its own, sometimes working and sometimes overflowing. The place looked old and neglected, nothing like the online photos. I really wouldn't want anyone else to stay here. There are better nearby options at the same price, so save yourself the stress. Until they renovate the whole hotel, I'd avoid it.

We were woken early by guests nearby banging and shouting while smoking, even though the hotel advertises itself as non-smoking and lists a 3,000 baht penalty. We reported it straight away, but reception said they couldn't do anything. The guests had already left by the time anyone might have acted, and we got no resolution. It felt like the rules weren't enforced and our concern was handled too slowly. We expected the hotel to respond properly, perhaps by sending security promptly, offering us another room, or compensating us for the disturbance. We hope management takes this seriously and improves its response time and enforcement so other guests don't go through the same thing. Very disappointing stay at Mountain Beach Hotel Pattaya.

Getting transport early in the morning was especially difficult. Even with a strategic location, online rides like Grab or bot were hard to find, and renting a motorbike felt unsafe for a first-time solo traveller who didn't know the roads well. I like to go to the furthest place first in the morning, so that was a problem. Inside the room the light was yellowish, which isn't my taste, and this wasn't mentioned on Agoda or the other apps. My curtain didn't fully cover the window, which didn't feel safe as a solo traveller. The WiFi was no faster than back home, but luckily I had roaming data. They didn't replace the coffee each day after cleaning, which seemed odd since hotels usually provide fresh coffee or tea. I brought my own, so it was okay, and they did refill the mineral water, which mattered most to me. The towels were big enough to cover me, and the water heater let me adjust the shower temperature from cold to hot. I hope they improve these things so the stay feels worth the money.
