Opal House Hotel & Restaurant

I haven’t stayed there, but I often eat at the restaurant overlooking the beach. The staff and service are great, and the menu has a wide choice of Thai and international food, including good pizza. Prices are very reasonable. There are usually plenty of tables, though it can fill up on weekends and holidays. It’s a popular spot on Beach road in Jomtien. Beach road is now a two-way street again.

The hotel has an ocean view, and the sunsets are lovely to watch. There’s a restaurant downstairs and a 7 eleven right beside the hotel. The room had towels and soap, but no shampoo or toothbrush, so bring your own. The aunties who clean the rooms are very friendly. Just be aware there’s no elevator in this four-floor hotel, so you have to carry your suitcases up the stairs yourself.

The cafe is wonderful and great value. It serves Thai and Western food, coffee, soft drinks, and alcohol. The popular open-front seating faces the sea and also serves as the hotel lobby and reception, though it feels more like a cafe. There’s an indoor, air-conditioned area too, which is nice for getting out of the heat. The staff are attentive and friendly. They understand English, and the visual menu is in English.

We stopped for lunch and really enjoyed it. The place has a cozy feel, the food was flavorful and nicely presented, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The only small letdown was that the spaghetti portion wasn’t very big. I’d definitely come back.
