I gave it one star only because zero wasn't an option. I paid 800BTH online and found a room so awful I still have nightmares about it. There was fungus everywhere and such a bad smell that I wanted to run straight back out. Holes in the room and door meant people could see right through it. The bed had bedbugs, the toilet didn't work, and there wasn't even a window. Dust covered the room, and water from the sink ran straight onto the floor. When I asked for my money back, they refused. I've traveled through lots of countries, from Europe to Africa, and never seen anything like this. The place showed no honesty or professionalism.

The older couple who run the place are nice, and it's close to both the beach and the city center. You might be able to negotiate the room price with a scooter included. It's a pleasant spot.

We paid 1,300 THB for a room for three and called when we reached Koh Lan to arrange a pickup. At first everything seemed fine, but the room was a mess when we got there. It didn't seem ready for guests: the fridge wasn't plugged in, the air conditioner was off, and its remote didn't work. The room looked as if it hadn't been cleaned in a long time, and the balcony was dirty too. When we left, staff said there was no ride to the pier, so we had to walk there. At least you can choose your own transportation.

The low rate and pleasant, shady grounds with beautiful trees are the main draws. It's fairly close to the pier, so you can walk there, though there's no sea view. The rooms could use a more thorough clean: there was dust, and several spots looked neglected.
