I ended up needing a bed in Pattaya unexpectedly and arrived late, so I booked one night at the Queen Victoria Inn on Soi6. It's right in the middle of the entertainment area, which means noise until at least 02:00hrs, so don't come here for a quiet night. The English pub style place serves European dishes and some Thai food, with imported beers at reasonable prices. My room was clean and basic, fairly comfortable, but small and quite dated. The furniture, soft furnishings, and decor badly need updating. The price reflects that. There are similarly priced rooms nearby with better equipment, unless you're a late-night party person who just wants somewhere easy to reach and sleep. I'd eat and drink here again, but probably only stay if I had to.

The all day breakfast was a letdown. I chose water instead of tea or coffee, and that added 45baht to the bill. The food wasn't worth it: hard yolks on the fried eggs, bland bacon, lukewarm beans with a skin on top, cheap generic pork sausages, and mushrooms fried to death. I'm not sure why the breakfast gets so much praise. Plenty of other places offer better food, prices, and service.

The location is good, and the room and service were okay. Still, traveling requires proper rest, and loud music and a crowd from a nearby pub kept disturbing me late into the night. It was very hard to sleep. I hope the hotel can improve the sound insulation.

I've visited several times since 2011 and usually enjoyed it, so what I saw on the 30th December was upsetting. A waitress had a bad cold and a strong cough. I can't say whether she should have been off, since I don't know the sick pay policy, and serving me wasn't what shocked me. She coughed into her hand while wrapping serviettes around clean cutlery for the next day's diners. Truly awful. I generally like the venue, which makes me sorry to say this.

Really good British food. The Full English breakfast is outstanding, and so is the Irish coffee. It's a very clean pub, with attentive staff.
