Sandy Spring Hotel

I’ve stayed in over 800 places, and this one was awful. There was no water in the morning, cockroaches around, blood stains, and no cleaning. The staff seemed like scammers to me. When I checked out an hour late because of the water problem, they threatened to call the police unless I paid for another half day in cash. Downstairs, I saw a couple with two children and the police there after, as I understood it, a staff member had pushed one of the kids and hurt them. Please stay away. I didn’t feel safe, and the staff were rude and mean.

The restaurant was a real highlight, and I enjoyed my stay. The room was good, and the staff were very nice. I stayed from December 27 to January 3, 2023, though I’m writing this late. Recent reviews suggest things have changed since then. I was lucky to have a great cleaning crew who treated me respectfully.

The reception staff were unfriendly, and the furniture was old. The prices didn’t match the service, so I wouldn’t recommend this place.

I noticed USD 5000 missing from the room safe only after I checked out. I suspect the older cleaning woman on the third floor, because she only came into my room after I’d left and never cleaned while I was there. They even waited until evening for me to go out. Then the hotel tried to charge me 3000 baht for a candy stain on the sheet, which could easily have been washed out with water. When guests refuse to pay, they call the police. The reception staff and cleaning woman, whose pictures I attached, were involved in stealing and robbing guests, though I’m sure the management and owner don’t know about it.
