Sunshine Hip Hotel

The shower curtain request turned into a hassle. There was a wall sticker saying guests could ask for one, but when I called reception they brought cotton buds instead. I explained I needed curtains, then showed the sticker to housekeeping. The staff member couldn’t read it because it was only in English, so I used Google Translate to explain, and then she understood. Water also leaked from the bathtub and left the floor wet and slippery. My room on the fifth floor had no microwave, even though Agoda listed one among the room amenities. Reception said microwaves were only on the eighth floor, but a previous Japanese guest review said their fifth-floor room had one. The room was near the street, so I could hear traffic, though I still slept okay. Cable TV reception was poor, especially on the fashion channels. Checkout is strictly at noon, with a 100 baht charge for every extra hour. The rooftop pool was tiny, and I didn’t see anyone using it.

It’s not the cleanest hotel, but at under $40 a night I’d say it’s an okay choice, especially with breakfast included. The food court in the nearby mall is extremely cheap and tasty, though.

Check-in and checkout went smoothly, and the reception staff were knowledgeable and gave us enough information about the hotel and its facilities. The gym and pool are available, and housekeeping did a perfect job. I had a comfortable stay.

The free breakfast was wonderful, and the front desk service was great. My room was standard but nice, and the location worked perfectly for my stay, around an 8-10 minute walk from the beach. I ordered late, so it was fairly expensive, but that was expected.
