The first time I stayed at The Red Balcony Inn was for three nights in 2025, and it was honestly amazing. I came back during Valentine’s week in 2026, on February 14 and 15, but this stay was a clear step down. I’d asked for a lower floor when booking because there’s no lift, yet they put me on the top floor. So much for avoiding the stairs. Bringing girls with valid ID was allowed, at least. The room was decent, but it wasn’t cleaned at all this time. The bathroom was tiny, and the bathtub had problems. One wrong move and it felt like a Thailand Final Destination DLC. Before checkout, I politely asked to stay five extra hours because my girlfriend was coming and my flight was at midnight. I offered to pay, and said another room would be fine, but they refused straight away. Then I asked the receptionist, who had a cigarette pack with him, if I could have three cigarettes since it was my last day in Thailand and I didn’t want to buy a full pack of 20. He said, “I don’t smoke.” Later, while waiting for my cab outside, I saw the same man smoking like a Bollywood villain. At that point I wondered if it was discrimination because I’m Indian. It still wasn’t a horrible stay, and memories were made, but the 2025 visit was definitely better. I might return, though I’d train my legs for the stairs first. The lack of a lift isn’t prominently mentioned, so you find out with your knees on the staircase. Valentine’s week doesn’t guarantee a romantic room, either. A returning guest in 2026 got a worse room, no cleaning, a refusal on late checkout, and what felt like cigarette gaslighting. The bathtub had one job.

There was noise constantly, day and night, with shouting, crying, and other disturbances that made it impossible to rest or sleep properly. The rooms were worn out, old, and poorly maintained, and cleanliness was very disappointing. This hotel is overrated and far too expensive for what it offers. A terrible experience, not worth the money, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

The unexpected entertainment came late at night: we heard strange noises from next door, then learned a guest and a girl downstairs had a serious disagreement over money. He heard 500, she meant 5000, and things got chaotic. Staff handled it calmly while the other guests acted like nothing was happening. I stayed three nights at The Red Balcony Inn and paid a lot, but felt it was worth every baht. I was in a luxury room on the first floor with a sea view. It was clean and spacious, felt premium, and had a bathtub that was great for relaxing after a long day. The balcony sunrise was pure peace. Just know there’s no early check-in, so be prepared to wait. Would I come back? Yes. I’ll remember this trip forever.

The room was good, but there were two holes in the main door that they never fixed. It’s close to the beach, though there’s no elevator.

The area can be too loud for some, but I chose the hotel for its beach road location, a few steps from The Walking Street and close to lots of restaurants and attractions. Mr.Tom the owner was very kind and upgraded me to a Sea View room. The rooms are big enough, cleaned daily, and come with fresh towels. My sea view room had an amazing view, and there’s a nice terrace for drinking and smoking. It’s an old hotel, but clean and well maintained. There’s no elevator, so you’ll need to carry your own luggage upstairs. I stayed for the last two weeks of 2025 and would definitely stay again.
