The people working here are sweet, helpful, and friendly, and getting around by bike taxi from Walking Street is easy. It's in a cozy area, with a nearby beach that's nice to hang out at. The sleeping setup was okay, but the shared bathroom was the weak point. There is just one toilet, so if you urgently need it while someone else is in there, you're out of luck. The bath area is awkward too, since you end up standing in a puddle if someone has showered before you. I'd rate the hospitality 4 stars, and the bed and other facilities 3.

If a quiet, laid-back atmosphere is what you want, this is a good place to stay. It's about 4 km from Walking Street.

I had an awesome time staying at Vanilla Hostel & Bar. The owner and staff were really good to us, and the place is clean, with a wonderful kitchen and a meeting room. I'd highly recommend it. **************
