The Bank River House

The balcony room was lovely, and the owners and staff were lovely too. We stayed for one night after a beautiful bike ride from Ayutthaya. The small hotel is in a converted bank right on the river in a little village. Sitting on the deck with a superb Thai meal and watching local life on the water was wonderfully tranquil. There were weaver birds, kingfishers, and plenty more to see. The food was exceptional, and people in the village on the opposite bank were very friendly. I highly recommend staying here to experience rural Thailand.

The resort and cafe sit beside the Noi River, so they’re affected by flooding. Thailand’s monsoon season starts in May, but people living along rivers have only begun to feel the floods during these two months, September and October. The owner, Mr. Sutee Tohworaphan, came up with a clever way to turn the situation into an opportunity: cafe customers can sit outside in the flood while having coffee or other drinks. The cafe serves food too, and the well-known local boat noodles, J'Joom Pak Daeng, are also available nearby. I was very impressed. Both the coffee and food were delicious.

What a lovely surprise in Ayutthaya province. The stylish hotel and cafe have beautiful views and great interiors, plus artisan coffee and a museum collection in the lounge.

The owner was warm and sincere, and the service was excellent. Such a hidden gem in Ayuthaya, with an incredible view. Highly recommend 👍👍👍
