The location worked if you want somewhere quiet, away from the tourists, and closer to the local side of town. It took about 20 minutes to walk to the busy tourist area or 12 minutes by motorbike, and after dinner the walk back felt very dark by 6 PM. The room had AC, a clean bathroom, a refrigerator, and other basics, but no TV or closet. Our two-night stay was only okay. Check-in was handled at the neighboring Khao Sok Blue Mountain, about 100 steps from our room. It wasn’t far, but having the other hotel’s front desk so distant raised room security concerns for me. The place looked empty, and the old wooden raised walkway was rickety enough that you could catch your foot if you weren’t watching, or were drunk, haha. The room itself was satisfactory, though there were tile stains that seemed easy to remove. The drywall walls let us hear the next-door neighbor. Most concerning, the sliding front door had a hole and a large crack when we arrived. We asked why we’d been given that room for two nights and got no answer. The big breakfast was bland, and the bacon tasted like nothing. Lunch and dinner were okay, though a bit pricey for Thai home cooking. That’s the cost if you don’t want to go into town for a meal.

We got a bungalow-like orange container with a tiny window, nothing like the one in the pictures. There was a heap of rubbish in front of the little terrace. When we raised it with the owner, the only reply was, “I know.” There were pubic hairs on the bed and more hair on the floor. We realize it’s cheap, but still expected it to be clean and look like the advertised pictures.

The rainforest setting is beautiful, and town is only a ten-minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helped us book a day tour and arrange transport to our next stop. The room was comfortable, we got our laundry done on site by a staff member, and breakfast was very good. 100% recommend.

We booked at the last minute when there weren’t many choices. It’s reasonably affordable, but still feels overpriced for what you get. Most bungalows don’t have Air Conditioning, so it’s hot in the day, though we slept fine at night. The place is a 10-12 minute walk from the main street and the national park entrance. There’s a nearby restaurant for breakfast or lunch. It isn’t expensive, but I still thought it was overpriced for what you get. The place is okay for a couple of nights if you can’t find something better. Tours and transfers are available there, at slightly higher prices than in town.

The road is convenient for the park but away from the crowds and noise of the main road. I’ve worked in a hotel on Phuket for seven years and stayed in dozens of hotels around Thailand, and I enjoyed my time at the Residence. I’ll definitely come back. The place still felt brand new, and I think I was the third person ever in my room. They were still working on the landscaping and their English, but the rooms were clean and big for this kind of place. It was cool enough in November that I switched off the fan around midnight and got under the blanket. I didn’t see a mosquito during my three days there, though there were lots closer to the river. They have a tiny kitchen and are still learning foreign foods, but they’re very eager to please. Staff were fun and friendly.
