The rooms were fine, with working AC, though I had no hot water and other guests mentioned the same. The dorm beds are comfortable, but I strongly suggest not booking a tour through Secret Hostel. Our tour had amazing views, but as a vegetarian I had very limited food compared with the rest of the group. We were told there'd be pad thai on the last day and got only rice and vegetables, without being told about the change. Our boat broke down, and delays meant we couldn't swim for long. The company gave a small refund, but it didn't make up for the disappointment. The tour organizer needs evaluating before more travelers have the same experience. Twelve others on our tour echoed this. Customer service and hospitality were among the worst I've experienced. It felt like they just wanted the money and didn't care about anything else. The short-haired woman with glasses at reception said she was the manager. She didn't properly answer my many questions about the tour, repeatedly reassuring me without clear or accurate information. I told her about my dietary requirements and she said it would all be fine, which wasn't true. While I was asking questions she seemed irritated, then said, “You are taking a long time, many customer walk by and go and I lose customer.” I was a customer staying at her hostel. When I asked to wait in the seating area by the hostel before check-in, she said I couldn't sit there unless I bought something, even though a sign said “No coffee today.” I also asked to borrow a hostel towel and return it after the two-day tour. She refused and said basic amenities would be provided out there, but that wasn't the case in the huts. The pictures show the pad thai we were supposed to get but didn't, and one of the mattresses in our room that we were told to sleep on. Please do better, Secret Hostel.

The location is great, with cafes and restaurants close by and the national park nearby too. We used the hostel as a base for a different tour the next day and had no issue not booking through them. The balcony was large with a great view, and the staff were friendly enough. This was one of the cleanest places we've stayed in all of SE Asia, despite the bad reviews. Our room was roomy and comfortable, and the curtains went all around the bed, a nice touch. The big towel they gave us as a blanket didn't bother me much for a one-night stay. The cleaner did start making up the beds around 9.30, presumably because many guests are already off on tours by then, but it wasn't a problem for me.

The setting of the huts is beautiful and the national park itself is stunning. We still had some good moments: we rented kayaks on the second morning and saw Gibbons, Macaque, Langur, Binturong, Hornbill and Ospreys. But our guide spoiled what could have been an amazing trip. He was loud, rude and obnoxious, talked nonsense much of the time, and came off like a rude schoolteacher when he patronized someone for talking during his explanation. On the evening trek we stood in front of a bamboo tree for 20 minutes listening to him contradict himself every other sentence. English not being his first language may have made things harder, but I don't think that explains how much he seemed to enjoy hearing his own voice. We booked Secret Hostel's two-day, one-night park tour and ended up with 35 people from different Khao Sok hostels. The hostel rooms were fine, though not especially comfortable, and the duvet was just a large towel. Staff were neither warm nor unpleasant, unlike the guide. The accommodation was very basic, with no AC or toilet paper, and the bathroom sink didn't work. The food wasn't great either. If we went again, we'd pay more for a better company.

The owner is so friendly and relaxed, and the way she sometimes rests under the counter is cute and memorable. Secret is easily the most professional and reliable travel agency in Khao Sok, with the best, most authentic tours. Five stars, highly recommend! 🌟

The receptionist, who seems to be the owner, was really rude and couldn't help with even a simple problem. It felt like she only wanted my money and wasn't trying to hide it. The other workers there were really kind.
