PB Place @ Kwan Payao

A nice little hotel with friendly staff. The only downside is there’s no TV, which feels essential in 2024, so I’m taking off one star 🤷‍♂️

Good place.

The staff member who first showed me the room was friendly, and I can imagine it being decent if it were maintained properly. But I barely got through the night before leaving at dawn, overwhelmed by bugs and dust. I paid 57,500 Korean won (about 47 won), which felt expensive next to other clean hotels nearby. At first glance the place looked nice, but there were dead flies on the pillow and dust everywhere. The bathroom had only the cheapest toilet paper. At night, flies were all over the place when I turned on the lights, and even with the door shut it was a mess if the curtains weren’t closed. When I left early, there was a pile of dead flies on the first-floor stairs. I had my dog with me, but the floor was so dirty that I kept him in his bag and left straight away. I only wanted to sleep, so I put up with it. It was a first for me, and a real shame.

There was no service at all. The bathroom was so cramped that a long shower felt like it could drown you, and there was no elevator. The staff serving guests stayed in their bedrooms all day, and nobody knew how often we came and went. It felt completely unsafe: the room door only had a doorknob lock and no other lock. I’d paid for two nights, but after one night I had to find somewhere else to sleep because it felt like we were just sitting in the building for them. The worst accommodation I’ve ever stayed in.
