Dusita Residence ดุสิตา เรสซิเดนซ์

It felt safe, was very clean, and has an elevator. But on the second day, I came back at night to find no clean towel and the room hadn’t been serviced. The receptionist said I needed to request room service. Come on, I’d been out all day. How was I supposed to know I had to ask for something the hotel should do?

It’s quiet, inexpensive, and well located near the Phetchabun bus terminal, with enough parking and bars and restaurants not far away. You can get free instant coffee at reception anytime, and the staff were friendly throughout. Communication can be difficult because some staff don’t speak much English. The elevator makes a loud noise every time it stops, which is annoying in the morning or when you’re trying to sleep in the evening or at night. There’s also a serious ant problem. They spray for it, but that only works for a short time.

Lovely receptionist Fei gave me helpful recommendations and assistance for Khao Kho. Dusita is tucked away in a hidden alley, but it’s a real find for anyone who comes across it. The bedding was superb, with a silky blanket that made me feel like I was in a typical Bangkok star hotel. It’s a four-story place with clean, standard rooms, good for a quick, comfortable stop while touring Petchabun province. I’ll definitely return, but bring your hair dryer, if you know what I mean.

Petchabun turned out to be a lovely place, and I’ll visit the hotel and town again. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The receptionist was friendly, polite and helpful. I can’t fault this lovely hotel.
