Kokotel Khao Lak Lighthouse

Breakfast was a bright spot: the staff were lovely and welcoming, and the food was tasty. The manager also found us an upgraded room in a better part of the hotel after we pushed them to check again. We’d booked ahead and contacted the hotel several times to explain we’d be arriving with a baby, but were initially taken to a fourth-floor room with no elevator. The staff member said there was no solution, apologized, and said no other rooms were available. That was extremely inconvenient and just not suitable with a baby. The upgraded room was ready, which we appreciated, but it had a lot of mosquitoes inside. Its blackout curtains blocked all natural light; with them open, people walking past outside could see right in, so it felt uncomfortable and lacking privacy. The view when open was amazing. The pillows smelled unpleasant.

The pool is nice and kept up, with tree debris cleared several times a day and chlorine in the water. Staff are lovely, and the rooms are comfortable and a good size. Breakfast is basic, but enough to get you going in the morning. Definitely recommend.

The room surprised us in a good way. It was much fancier than the reception and general areas, which looked a bit rough and nothing special. Breakfast was good, with one section changed each day so it didn’t get stale. The hotel’s rough appearance wasn’t necessarily a downside for me. I’m convinced the adjacent hotels cost more, while we got to share the same beach for less.

There are rooms with a sea view available. Otherwise, everything was excellent: the room, service, staff, location and breakfast were all top notch. Great value for the price, and I’d certainly recommend staying here.
