Homeland Resort

The room was great value, with a fantastic pool view, good Wi-Fi, good food and helpful staff. The pool and function center are also used by the local community, and the hotel guests seemed to come second to everyone else. There's a strange smell from the kitchen as you pass through the lobby. Out front, the soi dogs appeared to be having a full-on feud with the dogs next door, maybe over a girl, I imagine.

We were happy with our two nights at Homeland resort, and the price felt fair for what we got. The location is quite remote, so having our own transport was pretty much necessary. It’s about a 45-minute drive to central Khao Kho, which wasn't bad for us. In the winter, I reckon the valley may actually be nicer than the mountains because it's much warmer. The rooms were basic but very clean. My main concern was the pool, whose water looked green, suggesting its chemical balance might have been off.

The room was inexpensive and clean, though the water pressure was really poor. Fine for a one-night break on a longer drive elsewhere in Thailand.

Comfortable beds, effective air conditioning, a great pool and beer at a good price made this excellent value. There’s no food, though, and no coffee making setup in the rooms.
