Amber Residence

The manager was so kind and helpful, which made our stay even nicer. My wife and I booked a room with breakfast and were glad we did. Amber Residence is also in a great spot, just 100-200 meters from Patong Beach. We had a wonderful, hassle-free time and couldn’t find anything to complain about. Highly recommend it.

Our flight got in late on Jan 8, and we reached the "Residence" after midnight. Nobody was at reception, and there wasn't a phone number or anyone else to contact. With every nearby hotel booked, my wife and I spent the night in the lobby. When the cleaning ladies arrived, they didn't help. We asked about our Reservation, and they told us to come back at 2pm to check in. DO NOT STAY HERE! I’m only giving it one star because the system wouldn’t let me leave zero.

There’s no working phone number we could find, and the place was dirty. Roaches kept us company. My husband and I arrived late on Jan 8 and ended up awake all night because the lobby was open but there was nobody at the desk. Another couple was stuck in the same situation, though I don’t know what happened to them. Staff showed up around 7:50am and told us to wait until 8:00am for them to “open.” Then we got the runaround and were told to wait until 2pm to check in, even though our check in date was the day before. At 8:30am they finally said we could go to the room, without asking us for any information. DO NOT STAY HERE!!!

I forgot to write this back in February, but after seeing some of the negative reviews, I wanted to share how well the team treated me. I think some complaints are unfair if people expect a 3 star hotel to give them 5 star accommodations. I arrived in Patong a day before my booking and needed somewhere for one night. After trying five hotels, I came to Amber. The nice woman at check in thought they were fully booked, but asked me to wait while she got the new owner. He came up in barely 10 minutes, apologized for the short wait, and offered a small room that hadn’t been renovated yet. It was better than most places I’d stayed at on the trip, and the rate was really good. I told him I only cared that it was clean and the plumbing worked. He could have charged me much more, but didn’t. The owner, whose name I’m sorry I’ve forgotten, was a fellow Canadian from Montreal, a city I love and lived in for years. My other hotel turned out to be much more expensive and not nearly as nice. If Amber had had a room for the rest of my time in Patong, I’d gladly have cancelled that booking and stayed here. The team really rescued me and took great care of me. I highly recommend Amber and will keep telling friends to stay here when they’re in town.
