Calypso Patong Hotel

The staff were kind and helpful. It’s a basic hotel, and the room had a comfortable bed, working air conditioning, and a small but decent bathroom. There was also a little balcony, handy for drying scuba gear. You get what you pay for.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and I’m sharing this as feedback. The balcony doors didn’t shut tightly, and there was a noticeable gap under the main door, so we could hear every footstep outside. Balconies are very close together, with little privacy. For me, a hotel should be somewhere peaceful to relax, but we were disturbed throughout the stay. Housekeeping knocked on nearby doors and shouted “Hello” early in the morning. At night, loud talking and laughter from the next room made it hard to sleep. I wouldn’t recommend Calypso Hotel if you want a quiet stay. Reply to the owner: Patong was a great choice for me, except your hotel, sir!!!!

One staff member was helpful and gave us a lot of assistance with travel and taxi bookings. But the rest of the stay was extremely disappointing. While we were out, someone entered and cleaned our room without telling us or getting our permission. That felt like a violation of our privacy. They also charged us 500 Baht for stains on towels, which can happen naturally after bathing. I found that unreasonable and felt it was an attempt to get extra money from guests. The lack of respect for privacy and these policies made the hotel feel very unprofessional. I’d strongly advise against staying here.

The hotel is old and the furniture is damaged. The air conditioner only works for about 30 seconds, and the cleaning is so loud it keeps you from sleeping. I chose to pay by card, but at check-in I was told I had to pay cash. They promised to sort out the accommodation issue, but no one at reception could help, and the official number didn’t answer my message. I had only a limited amount of cash, which I’d carefully set aside online for food and transport. Thanks to Calypso, I had money troubles. I asked to cancel two days ahead and got no reply. The hotel doesn’t care about customers, just taking the money. I strongly don’t recommend it.
