Hao Hostel Phuket

We left after just one night. We’d arrived late and had no way to move right away, but the place was dirty, the taps didn’t work, and there was no running water. The windows in our room were broken, with a hole in the glass, and the door locks didn’t feel secure. Some machine outside made noise all night. We still haven’t been refunded for the nights we didn’t stay. Communication was poor, and the photos don’t match the place. Horrible “hotel.”

There’s no proper reception for check-in, just a café, and the staff couldn’t answer our questions. When we checked out, we had a night flight and asked to leave our bags. They wanted 100 baht for that. The bed was extremely hard, and the bathroom smelled bad. The shower drain was left open, with small black worms coming out of it. Our sheets smelled of armpit odor and had visible stains, and the pillow cover was dirty. This place isn’t fit to offer hotel services, and the cleanliness was poor.

The room situation was bad from the start: we booked a four-bed suite but got a hostel room with very uncomfortable bunk beds. When we called on arrival to ask what had happened, hotel staff hung up on us and blocked my number. The pictures bear little resemblance to the real place, which also looked neglected. Staff who showed up in the morning weren’t helpful, and the coffee took ages and cost far too much. I contacted them through booking.com after leaving to ask for a price adjustment because the room was nothing like what we’d booked, but got no reply. Avoid it.

We’ve been waiting for water to wash ourselves for hours, with no staff around and no one answering customer service calls. There’s no water running around the clock, no clean or hot water, and the bathroom and toilet weren’t clean. Maintenance and customer service are both beyond poor. We’re deeply disappointed. What a day. :(
