Patong Princess Hotel

My second room smelled strongly of smoke, and the pillows had a thick layer of visible dirt even though staff had put them on the bed. The hotel’s general smell was awful too, coming from the toilets and drains, and it stayed in my nose on the flight home. Cleanliness and safety were a real concern throughout. I booked in September 2025 mainly because the Expedia listing said there was an onsite restaurant and a pool. The restaurant wasn’t operating, despite the photos, and the bar was closed too. I arrived starving and had hoped to order food at the hotel. If I’d known, I could have asked the driver to stop on the way. I also planned my excursions around having breakfast onsite, so I wouldn’t have to go looking for food in the mornings. Airport transfers were advertised as available, but they weren’t offered at all. The pool itself looked clean, though I can’t speak to the water’s hygiene. The surrounding area was dirty, and the chairs could have been washed in a few minutes with soap and a hose. My first room’s balcony door wouldn’t close or lock. I showed a staff member and told them about it; they moved me the next day, but that same room was occupied again the day after. When I opened the fridge in the new room, its door broke into pieces. The staff were helpful, but with the cleanliness problems, the lack of customer safety, and the false advertising, I can’t recommend this hotel.

A valuable electronic device was stolen from my room after staff entered without permission. I had specifically asked that nobody go in, even to clean. When I complained, they brushed me off, told me to check the room, and accepted no responsibility. It felt very unsafe and was deeply disappointing.

I booked for two weeks and left after just one night. The staff were very nice, polite, and tried to help, which is why I gave it two stars. Otherwise, it would be a one-star place. The hotel smells bad, and it feels like an old property from its heyday about 40 years ago that needs a full renovation. Things are worn out or too dirty to fix with a quick wipe. Most rooms are awful, with cracked, dirty walls that need repainting.

For about 1100bath, I thought this was good value. The hotel was clean, check-in was easy, and the rooms were nice. There’s a rooftop pool, a 24-hour front desk, and it’s less than 15 minutes from banglad. Market Malin is next door and is one of the best.
