Shunli Hostel

It's a quieter spot in Phuket Old Town, which made it easy to relax. The Peranakan breakfast was delicious and a real highlight. The rooms were incredibly clean and great value, and the owner was friendly and very helpful. We keep coming back whenever we're in Phuket Old Town.

I've never stayed anywhere this clean, not even Radisson blu or Hilton. The owner is such a sweetheart, and breakfast is handmade and really good. The bed was comfortable, the AC worked well, and the water pressure was great. It's quiet but still central, and every room has a balcony, even the indoor ones, which face the lovely stairway. Internet was the one weak point, since it could be faster. It was stable enough for calls, Miro, and browsing at the same time, but I wouldn't risk video calls. For a digital nomad it might feel too slow.

My flight was delayed eight hours and I didn't check in until 4am, but they stayed up for me, so I knew I was in good hands. The place was very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was delicious, with something different on each of the two days I was there. Couldn't fault it.

I ended up extending my stay on the spot once I realized this was the best accommodation of my trip around Phuket. The owner was really nice and clearly cared about keeping the place clean and cosy. The internet stayed connected, though it could be faster, since YouTube at 1080p sometimes buffered. Still, a surprising and outstanding stay.
