Lamai Guesthouse

The power in our room went out in the morning, though other rooms still had electricity. I reported it, and when a staff member came in, the power came back by itself. I strongly suspect it was done intentionally. Before he arrived, I saw him speaking Thai with another staff member, which made the situation feel even more suspicious and uncomfortable. Earlier, I’d left the “Make My Room” card on the door before going out. When I came back that night, it had been turned to the “Do Not Disturb” side. That made me very uncomfortable because it seemed someone had entered or interfered with the room without permission. The staff were also horribly rude and unprofessional. They seemed annoyed by complaints and acted as if they could do whatever they wanted without taking responsibility. I felt there was no concern for guests or proper customer service. This was a very unpleasant stay at Patong Lamai Residence Hotel. It showed a lack of respect for guests’ privacy and comfort, and I won’t stay here again or recommend it.

The room was okay for the price, and it’s one of the cheapest options in Patong beach. But the toilet was disgusting. Staff don’t speak English, and with just one person at reception, check-in and check-out both had long queues.

My room had a balcony, bathroom, TV, air conditioning, and plenty of space, all for $11 AUD. It was clean, and I’ve been very happy here despite seeing mixed reviews. I know some rooms don’t have windows, so I may have been lucky with mine. It’s a little out of the way, but still within walking distance of lots of restaurants and 711’s, and Patong beach is a 20 minute walk. There’s nice art displayed around the place, too.

No lift in this four-storey building, and there’s no car parking. Motorbike parking is limited. The bed, furniture, and pretty much everything else is old. The bidet has very strong water pressure, though. I wouldn’t come here with family.
