Chatrium Golf Resort Soi Dao Chanthaburi

I’ve stayed here many times and the service has been reliably good on every visit. The course is well maintained and makes for a challenging round. The restaurant staff also looked after our group very well. The rooms are kept up nicely. On this visit, though, the refrigerator was old and didn’t work. The staff replaced it right away with a spare.

The breakfast was poor: the bacon was hard and plasticky, the bread stale, and the coffee undrinkable. The room wasn’t vacuumed daily, and neither the toilet nor shower stall was cleaned at all. English communication from staff was also very poor. Checkout felt especially uncomfortable. Even after we’d paid everything, management made us wait three minutes while they checked that the room was intact. The receptionist then stood by our car to make sure we didn’t drive away. There were also very few golfers despite the low prices, which perhaps explains the low rating.

We were there as guests of a member. The hotel was good and the staff were excellent, but the golf course management was very poor, and the course was very expensive.

The setting and hotel made this a really enjoyable, memorable trip with my Thai friend. At night in October the temperature dropped to 25'C, and the resort has a lovely view over the fairway and mountains. The hotel has been renovated nicely and includes a swimming pool. The food was excellent too. The course has wide fairways, but the greens are a bit fast, so getting birdies is difficult. It’s a great place for a family or friends group. The one drawback is the drive from the airport, about four hours. Still, the golf course and hotel were excellent, and I’d strongly recommend it.
