The Yambay and its service team were a real highlight of our honeymoon. Renovations are underway, with big plans for the expansion, but the work was nearly invisible and we hardly heard any noise. It was such a peaceful escape, and my husband and I plan to return. We’d eventually like to try a condo room. Getting around can be hard without your own vehicle, especially in the mornings when the sea comes right up. In the evenings the tide goes out, so you can walk along the beachfront to a few lovely restaurants, forest parks, and beach areas. Weekdays were very quiet, then families started showing up as the weekend got closer, with lots of happy faces. It’s a great break from the hustle and bustle of Hua Hin without going far. Bike and kayak rentals would be a nice addition, and would let guests explore the local nature without leaving the hotel area so much.

The Yambay suites are on the 29th and 30th floors of a very large condo hotel. We had a great night’s sleep in a lovely, quiet room on the 29th floor. There’s renovation work on the ground floors, but we couldn’t hear it and it didn’t affect our stay. The hotel is in the middle of nowhere, with not even a local 7-11, so you’ll need your own transport for attractions or nightlife. Still, we had a lovely stay.

We only spent a weekend at Yambay, but my fiancé and I fell in love with the place. It’s so relaxed and quiet, just right for a few days away. The room was clean, stylish, and well designed. There isn’t much to do nearby, but if you want a short getaway, this is a great choice. The mountain view behind and ocean view in front were the best I’ve seen, at least in Thailand. We’ll definitely come back.

On the 28th and 29th floors of the unfinished Yambay project, I found a slice of heaven at a very reasonable price. The renovated rooms look superb, with stylish modern decor, balconies with Jacuzzis, and amazing views, unless the pollution is too bad. Milford condotel is in the same building on the lower floors, but the rooms are nowhere near as good. They’re decorated in cheap, awful taste and cost more than Yambay. Milford seems to be aimed at Korean customers, and its management never seems to understand the market price.

Yambay only occupies about the top three floors of this building, which also has two separate hotels and privately owned condos. Checking in was difficult because the staff downstairs didn’t work for Yambay and weren’t very helpful. I was lucky to have my Thai Girlfriend with me. Without her, it would have been nearly impossible. The room itself was quite nice, but there was just one chair on the balcony. A quarter-inch crack ran down the balcony wall, which was scary on the 29th floor. The air conditioning unit on the balcony was both noisy and hot when we sat outside. The restaurant and bar area looked nice, but the lawn hadn’t been mowed in a while, and broken pieces of plywood covered the pool drains. Much of the building seemed unfinished, and the lack of maintenance was obvious.
