The little plaza up the hill beside the wash & dry laundry is where I found the best sunset view, about a five-minute walk up the street. A few people were taking Instagram photos there, looking out over the Sook hotel. The breakfast deserves a mention too. There was a great spread of Southern Thai food, plus all the fixings to put together a Ranong-style noodle soup if you want to eat local. My room had eggs, which I saved for an early protein boost before breakfast. For a three-star hotel, the food could rival places rated five stars. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby, and the farm-loft style rooms were a nice surprise.

Everything else was great, but breakfast was a mess. We turned up at 10am and found all seven staff busy preparing boxed lunches. They said they couldn't make scrambled eggs, and we had to insist and use Google Translate to get them in the end, since nobody spoke English. The rest of the spread seemed aimed mostly at Asian guests. There was no bread, butter, pastries, or fruit.

The hotel has lots of activities inside, which I really appreciated, and its restaurant is the best in town. Being right on Walking street is a big plus too. As a vegetarian, though, I found almost nothing to eat beyond fried rice and bread with butter. I hope management can add things like fruit platters, milk, cornflakes, and bakery items. The welcome eggs are a unique touch, but guests could be asked whether they want them soft or hard boiled, or no egg at all. A little bread and butter with the egg would make it more useful.

I stayed two nights and immediately wished I could have made it a much longer visit. The unlimited breakfast buffet is traditional and healthy, and honestly a model for other hotels. The rooms were spotless and there were amenities everywhere. How is Farm House only three stars? It outdid plenty of higher-rated hotels I've stayed in over all my travels. Ranong is an underrated destination, and this was the best place I found there.

The breakfast buffet was really good. The hotel is nicely decorated, with good facilities and friendly staff. Its location near the walking street is convenient, but it's just far enough off to stay quiet.
