Mama's Bungalows Koh Chang Ranong

Everything Mama cooks is good, from the really great Thai food to the European and German dishes, which taste surprisingly good too. We had a clean, nice bungalow with an amazing view of the beach. The staff were always kind and smiling. We could only stay three nights, but next time we’ll make it longer 😊

The bungalow was basic, like most places in Koh Chang, but it was fine, with a lovely view, and the laundry smelled fresh. The staff were superb, and the food was so, so good. I especially recommend the tamarind fish and Burmese salad. There’s a great walk on All Trails that starts by these bungalows and follows the coast further south. We really enjoyed our stay.

It’s a simple place for a simple life, just right if you want peace and quiet. Mama Soï is wonderful, and her whole team is extremely nice and helpful. Plenty of guests have been coming back for more than ten years, and now we understand why :)

Mama arranged a taxi bike from the pier for us, so getting there was easy. The location is gorgeous, with the bungalows and restaurant right on a pristine, clean beach, free of rocks that might hurt your feet. The water had no sea lice, which we appreciated after encountering lots of jellyfish in Thailand, and it was lovely to swim at sunset. There isn’t much else in the area, but we didn’t need it, with Mama and her incredibly kind staff cooking all kinds of delicious food throughout the day. You can also rent a kayak. Our bungalow was simple, with a porch, chairs, and a hammock. There was no fan, but the breeze came through well enough that it never bothered us. There’s a plug inside that works at night. The whole place is incredible. I can’t decide whether to tell everyone to come or keep this secret paradise for when I’m 70 😇. Mama and the staff are caring, kind, and so hospitable that they made this place feel like a new home. Thank you so much :)
