Namsin Hotel

After I booked and paid online through Booking.com, which listed only air-conditioned rooms, I was told I'd get a fan room and had to pay 33% more for AC. When I challenged that, they said the reservation came from AGODA, a service I'd never heard of. I have humidity-induced asthma, and spent both nights coughing, wheezing, and feeling sick. I only book air-conditioned rooms in humid places, so don't book or pay online with them. They seemed far too practiced at this argument. I would never trust anything they say again.

Good value for a cheap hotel. The receptionist was generous and cheerful, and the room was very clean. Every room has a window. A desk, room service, and an attached bathroom are among the useful features.

The reception lady was extremely kind and helpful, and the only reason I didn't rate the hotel lower. She was holding the place together, though she didn't speak any English. The building is very old and large, with a fairly reasonable price, but the rooms aren't well maintained and there was dirt on the bedsheets. The TV and AC belong in a museum, and the place somehow gives off a mental asylum vibe. There are smoking spots on every floor. It's on the outskirts of BKK, not in BKK proper, far from everything and with poor public transport.

The bed bag is near the coin laundry, Wash & Dry. There are lots of restaurants around, and the Riverside night market is within walking distance. Highly recommended.
