Favstay - The Base Uptown Phuket

The property consultant communicated well in English and guided us professionally from the start and throughout our stay. The location is central in Phuket, close to the island’s biggest mall and large supermarkets, even on foot, but far from the beaches. We felt it was good value for money and would recommend it for a stay of a month or more. Just follow the shared-area rules and be polite. Our one-bedroom apartment was 34 square meters, small but cozy and fine for a couple. It felt smaller than that, though, and might be tight for a family with kids or anyone with lots of belongings. A two-bedroom place may work better. The kitchenette had basic cooking utensils, a microwave, fridge, small electric stove and toaster. We would have preferred a basic coffee maker instead of the toaster. The living room and hallway were combined, with a sofa that could serve as a full bed, air conditioning and a TV. The bedroom had a firm mattress, wardrobe, two sets of linens, four towels, six pillows, TV and air conditioning. The bathroom had a shower with an electric heater and good ventilation. Having a washing machine on the balcony was a big plus, and there was also a hanger and room to smoke or have coffee. We faced the mountain known as «Monkeys hill», a nice place to visit. Mornings and midday were quiet, though live music from the nearby night market could sometimes go on late. Bike and car parking is guarded and for condo residents only, and you need a special sticker to avoid a fine. Sometimes there aren’t enough car spaces. There’s CCTV, resident-only access and friendly security guards and staff. The two elegant lobbies have room to relax or work, but the air conditioning may be turned off, making them hot. The green areas with lawns, trees and palms were nice, and cleanliness was maintained throughout, including the outdoor shared spaces and smoking area. The clean main pool is around 20 meters long, with a small kids’ pool too. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. and may be crowded or empty depending on the time, but there are annoying insects around all day. The gym is tiny but better than nothing, with seven cardio machines, two benches and pairs of dumbbells from 2.5 kg to 25 kg. There’s no barbell, so anyone training with free weights has to make do with the dumbbells. It’s open from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., with space nearby for stretching or yoga.

A good option for either a short or long stay. It’s kept in very good condition, with a regularly cleaned pool, a small gym with weights, running and step machines, and comfortable air-conditioned reception areas.

We lived here for six months and found it cozy and pleasant. The location works well if you want to get around Phuket quickly. Materials are good quality, and the pool and garden are always clean.

I enjoyed my month here and was mostly happy with the stay, though the apartment location made a big difference. Mine faced a quiet area and the city, rather than other units or the busy main road beside the building, so I had privacy and peace. I might not have enjoyed it as much otherwise. The pool and gym were nice, and I used them often. There isn’t much in the surrounding area, perhaps aside from Chilva market. Beaches and attractions are quite far, so expect longer rides. It’s not a very walk-friendly area.
