We went to Ya Nui Beach every day. It was very crowded, but great for snorkeling, swimming and kayaking. The hotel isn't far from Rawai, which is a nice area to walk around, eat and shop, though the hotel road is busy and doesn't really have sidewalks for pedestrians. Our room was clean and comfortable, with a good view, especially at high tide. The pool by our room was clean and pleasant, and we enjoyed the breakfast. All the staff were good and helpful.
We had a first-floor room with direct pool access, which was a fun spot for teaching swimming. The pool was clean and well kept. The room had a great, comfortable bed and a divider that made a separate sleeping area. The TV was okay, and we used a TV stick for Netflix. The staff worked hard to make us comfortable and responded quickly whenever we needed something. The hotel is a big one, with a clever design that gives all the rooms a water view. The beach was nice for walking. If you reserve ahead, they'll take you to a better swimming beach at 9am. We did that once and it was okay. There was also a nice place to have drinks on the sand, plus an outdoor shower and room service. A real four-star hotel.
We had a swim-up pool room. The water felt cool at first, but was nice once I got in. Sitting quietly on the balcony was lovely, and the buffet breakfast had a decent range of good food. It's a nice hotel right on the beach. Our one complaint was the towels. We had to ask for them, and even after the used ones were taken away, nobody replaced them. We ended up asking for towels for more than half of our stay.
We booked at the last minute because the price seemed reasonable for what the pictures showed. The hotel is filthy and looks nothing like those photos. There's black mould all over the bathroom, and a strong, unpleasant smell throughout the place. Our room smelled like dirty nappies the whole time. The towels were stained when we walked in after check-in, the ceiling had brown patches everywhere, and the hallways were disgusting. The whole place needs a serious scrub and renovation. It's also on a busy main road.
I loved this hotel. It sits right on the beach, with a beautiful restaurant on the sand, and the breakfast was delicious. I only stayed a couple of nights, so didn't venture far, but tours picked me up and dropped me back at the hotel. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and even upgraded my room at check-in. Gorgeous, and I'd highly recommend it.
