Such an incredible place to stay. It's romantic and peaceful, with stunning views. The food and service were excellent, and for such a unique location and million-dollar views, it was good value for money.

The beachside setting is lovely and quiet, and the Thai architecture and artifacts give the property real character. Still, at $200 USD a night, or $220 with taxes and fees, I expected a smoother stay. Nobody was at reception when we arrived, and staff couldn’t find our booking. We waited about half an hour until a kind Myanmar staff member, who I think may have been a gardener or security guard, noticed us and called for help. He was very helpful, but check-in felt disappointing for this price. Our deluxe villa looked beautiful, though it needed some upkeep. The AC stopped in the middle of the night, possibly because of a maintenance issue, and I couldn’t sleep. My guest slept fine. The staff we met were warm and attentive, but management needs to put more into maintenance and the guest experience. A few practical changes would help: better ventilation or an air purifier, mosquito screens so guests can let in the breeze, someone reliably at reception during check-in, more attention to the landscaping, and simple beach chairs. This quiet retreat has a lot of potential as a five-star hidden gem. If rustic charm and a few quirks don’t bother you, it may still suit you. I’m sharing what happened so others can decide.

It’s peaceful and well away from the crowds, with a nice pool and pleasant staff. The rooms are quaint, traditionally styled, and look east toward the sea. We got a welcome drink, and breakfast was ordinary and not a buffet. We paid 12,000 baht for two nights, and you could probably find somewhere better for that price.

I came on my own, and while the place was lovely, it felt a little too secluded and lonely for a solo trip. There’s a hostel within walking distance down the beach if you want some company, while still having Royal Thai as a peaceful, luxurious base. For a romantic getaway or honeymoon, I’d definitely stay here or recommend it. It’s gorgeous and private, without lots of guests loudly hanging around the pool. A few people got up early for sunrise, but there was plenty of room for everyone to enjoy their own view. The restaurant hours were a little awkward for my plans. I think breakfast starts around 8, but my Phi Phi islands tour pickup was at 7:45, and the restaurant closes at 8 pm. The bathroom is open to nature, and a frog got inside. It wasn’t a problem for me, but it’s a heads-up if you’re skittish.
