Makmai Villa

The sea is just across the road, and the hotel sits in a garden with lots of trees and branches. Parking is along the road outside the fence. I booked a Standard room through Agoda for 885 THB on a Saturday. It was 20 square meters, with a similarly sized bathroom and a small balcony. Not a particularly large room, and the furniture was simple. A decent hotel.

Right across from a beautiful, flat beach, with shady spots where you can rent chairs cheaply. Little cart vendors bring food and drinks around to the chairs. There aren't any restaurants or bars directly on the beach. It's an older, low-rise inn. The staff were helpful, the rooms were clean, the AC worked well, and the pool area was nice. The place feels a bit dated and could use some upgrades. The trees and shrubs were also getting a little overgrown.

The pool is very clean and lovely, and there's a play area for kids with even a trampoline. Staff are friendly, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. A nice spot for a night or two, right across from a beautiful beach. The bed is very firm, Thai style.

The pool is fine for cooling off, and the hotel itself is good. My room was okay, though the water smelled a bit stagnant at first. After flushing a few times or running the tap, it was fine. The beach is right outside, but it's really dirty, with plastic bags, bottles, rubber tires, and all sorts of rubbish scattered around. Thai authorities need to clean it up. The door has only a simple basic lock, so keep an eye on your belongings. There's CCTV in the corridor, though I couldn't tell if it was actually recording. I'd rate the hotel 6 out of 10.
