Satit Grand View Hotel

The room I was moved to was much better, but the first one had hair on the pillow cover, a broken inside security lock on the main door, a broken bathroom door lock, a chair with a burnt seat, and one of the two bed lights didn't work. I tried calling reception to complain, but the phone was out of order, so I had to go down. The front office staff member "EAK" had impressed me by offering early check-in. I booked through trip.com, which rated the hotel 9/10. I'm puzzled how it could get that rating.

The breakfast buffet was quite good and the Wi-Fi stayed fairly stable. The room was clean and comfortable enough, though the staff seemed a bit grumpy. The hotel was dim, and even in the morning it felt a bit dark. A reasonable-price option if you want a comfortable hotel.

The hotel is in a strategic spot, about 1.1 KM from the border. A few minutes' walk gets you to mostly Muslim restaurants, lots of 7 Eleven shops and currency exchange counters. There's also an Indian street with an Indian restaurant and bar. Front desk staff were very attentive and helpful, especially Ms. Kal, who was always smiling and had a good attitude. Breakfast buffet runs from 7 am to 10 am, and it’s better to go before 8:30 am. There’s a decent range: fried egg, two cereals, coffee and tea, toast with different jams, rice, porridge, some vegetables, fried noodles and more. The bathroom had a bad, uncomfortable smell all the time, possibly because there was no ventilation fan and the drainage was bad, though the water pressure was good. I was surprised to find cockroaches in there. The front desk gave me aerosol, and after I sprayed the whole room and went out, three cockroaches were dead when I came back.

The mattress was so hard I couldn't sleep well, and the place looked very old fashioned. The room lighting needs an upgrade, the towels should be replaced, and the TV and air conditioning remotes need checking.
