It has a good layout and fantastic mountain views, and could be a beautiful course. Sadly, it’s very run down.

The caddies and staff were excellent, but that still wasn’t enough to make me want to come back. The clubhouse and facilities are falling apart, with no locker rooms or showers, and you can’t buy food or drinks on the course. Carts aren’t allowed on the fairway, so expect plenty of uphill walking. If you go, use GPS, because finding the course is a challenge.

Set on the banks of River Kwai Noi, the course has water on most holes and some long tee shots, so it can really test your game. The jungle-lined fairways and hilly stretches make for an exciting round. Many golfers want to play a course named after this famous region. There may be better designed and better presented courses in the River Kwai area, but this one offers a natural challenge. Rating: 3-1/2 stars.
