Public House Sukhumvit 31 Hotel

I liked this boutique hotel. Check-in was quick and the welcome was friendly. The room was nice, with a large, comfortable bed, cookies, and a Bluetooth speaker as a nice touch. Parking was available too. I would've preferred a bathtub, though the shower pressure was fantastic, which matters a lot to me and suggests money has gone into the hotel's infrastructure. My one complaint came at checkout: staff insisted on checking the room even after I said we hadn't used the well-stocked minibar. At this price, guests should be trusted.

Bangkok was easy to explore from here, and it was also quiet and peaceful when I came back. There are lots of good restaurants nearby, along with coffee places and spas. The hotel feels quite modern and perhaps a bit westernised, but I found it really comfortable and worth the price. Our room was spacious and very clean, and the staff were great. One nearby meal we loved was at Siam Nora, which was one of our best dining experiences.

I liked the pleasant lobby and convenient location, and the mocktail program felt thoughtfully put together. At checkout, the staff kindly offered snacks and a cookie, which I appreciated. The room had a strong, lingering musty smell that didn't go away when I aired it out. I couldn't see any signs of a problem, but the odor caused me physical discomfort, including throat irritation and skin sensitivity. I completed my stay, but it affected my comfort a lot. I didn't bring it up with staff while there because I was focused on dealing with how I felt. This is just my experience. Other guests might not be bothered, but anyone sensitive to smells or air quality may want to keep it in mind.

The room itself was good, with nice beds and perfect water pressure. The hotel design looks cool and the location is perfect, but it didn't feel like the five-star stay we expected. Some breakfast dishes weren't very tasty. There's no rooftop bar or sun beds by the rooftop pool, and the bar and restaurant are awkwardly exposed on the ground floor, which made us less inclined to eat or have a drink there. The novelty deforested. We felt we'd paid too much for the service and facilities, given what you can get elsewhere in Bangkok.
