The Buffalo Amphawa (SHA Plus)

Buffalo Amphawa was a stop on our Klook tour of Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, on the way back to Bangkok after visiting the floating market and railway market. We were keen to see the famous pink buffalo, but she wasn’t there. Maybe she was resting! The hotel has huge grounds beside the Mae Klong River, with lots of photo spots and a rustic countryside feel that makes you want to wander around. It’s very picturesque, though the heat and Thailand’s humidity were intense. We went looking for air conditioning. Only The Rusty Rose restaurant and the Buffalo Café were open at the time. We’d just had lunch, so we skipped the restaurant and went to the café. Its air-conditioned space was quite small, so we sat outside with the big fans. They helped, but it was still hot. The drinks were a bright spot: the signature Buffalo Coffee, with its Thai milk tea twist, tasted surprisingly good, and they also serve gelato. It’s a pleasant place to stretch your legs, take photos, and relax for a bit, especially on a cooler day. Come ready for the heat and you can enjoy the countryside feel.

Actual buffalos add to the rustic feel, and the buffalo theme gives the decor a playful touch. The place is charming, clean, and peaceful. The rooms are comfortable and well maintained, making for a pleasant stay.

The breakfast was so nice and huge, I wish I could have eaten more. The place is peaceful and worth the price, a great spot for vacation time. My room was very clean and had all the amenities properly provided. The staff gave good service from the entrance, taking me by golf car all the way to the room. I’d sincerely recommend coming here for a vacation. You wouldn’t regret it!

We came for the beautiful riverside setting, but the food was a complete disaster. There were five of us, and the fried rice was just okay; everything else was terrible. The fried chicken was dry and tasteless. The spicy shrimp soup was the worst we’ve had in Thailand, bland and unbalanced, and far from authentic. The restaurant was completely empty when we arrived, which should have warned us. Now we understand why. With so many great food options in Thailand, there’s no reason to spend your time or money here. Avoid it.
