4 Palms Resort Hotel

The pool was a good size and pleasant, and there’s a bakery right by the entrance. The hotel is close to town, and you can borrow a bike at reception. There’s also a small gym. Those were the positives. We booked because of the great Google and TripAdvisor reviews, but our deluxe double room was a real disappointment. It was in a separate building beside the family’s residence, which seemed odd when there were only a handful of guests. The walls had dead bugs on them, and the wardrobe had no hangers. We stayed three nights and the room was never cleaned, the bins weren’t emptied and the towels weren’t changed. I ended up changing the bin myself with plastic bags. The mattress was rock hard. When we complained and asked to move, we were told all the mattresses were the same and we couldn’t change rooms. An extra mattress protector made no difference, so we used two sun lounger cushions for padding, which helped a little. At checkout we spoke to an American couple who said their bed and pillows were very comfortable, probably the best they’d slept on. That wasn’t our experience. I’ve travelled extensively and, in my opinion, this was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend it unless they can guarantee a room in the main complex.

The pool-facing balcony was a nice touch, and the resort provides bikes. The night market is a 10-minute walk or a 3-minute ride, while the beach takes about 15 minutes on foot. My room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the A/C stayed cool. I really enjoyed my stay.

It was easy to relax in the quiet surroundings, and my room was both clean and comfortable. The staff were so friendly and helpful that they made the stay even better. I had a wonderful time at Bang Sarey 4 Palms Hotel, highly recommend it and hope to come back soon.

The hosts, a lovely UK and Thai couple, were so helpful and easygoing. They’d even try to help with food orders from outside. We stayed here twice in one week, first for one night and then for two, because we liked it so much. I’ll definitely stay again when I’m back in August. The grounds are very quiet, especially at night, and the pool was clean enough that my wife didn’t get red eyes afterward. We tried a first-floor room with a view and a ground-floor one with direct access to the pool. The rooms are thoughtfully set up. Ours had a terrace with a table and chairs, good lighting options, and lights by the bathroom mirror for shaving as well as over the larger bedroom mirror for getting ready. There was an electric shaving socket in the bathroom, a comfortable chair for working on my laptop, a fridge, excellent A/C and a ceiling fan to move the air around. The bed was comfortable, with extra pillows in the cupboard at the back of the room. The shower had strong pressure and easy temperature control, and the heavy curtains blocked out the light at night.
