Baan Tah On The Sea

The standout here is the wide ocean view, with fishing boats sailing and anchored around the nearby piers. Baan Tah on the Sea was built on an old fisherman pier in the quiet Bang Sare fishing village, about 30 minutes south of Pattaya. It has two room types: pricier water bungalows, or more reasonably priced guest rooms in two-storey buildings nearer the entrance and farther from the sea. We stayed in a water bungalow, where you could fish with a rod from your own balcony. It was very spacious, sometimes almost empty-feeling, especially the bathroom. The resort has a trendy minimalist loft design, and the buffet breakfast had a broad, ample range of dishes suited to Thai guests.

For 2500 baht a night, I expected a lot more. The room was run-down, the walls worn, and both the A/C and fridge were very noisy. When I tried to unplug the fridge and moved the furniture, it was incredibly dusty and dirty behind it. Totally unacceptable at this price. The balcony was neglected too, with a missing cushion and some missing wooden slats, and it didn’t look like the photos. Construction was going on constantly, so resting was impossible, even Friday afternoon and Saturday at 8:30 AM. There seemed to be quieter rooms available, but they put me right in front of the work. Reception didn’t give a real welcome, and the staff seemed indifferent at best. This was a major disappointment and the worst value for money I’ve experienced.

The sunsets were unreal, and my partner and I had a perfect romantic getaway. The owner and staff were always friendly and incredibly attentive. I left feeling totally refreshed and already want to return. This resort felt like pure paradise.

The room and facilities deserve one star, the quality gets zero, and customer service gets minus 100. Close this place for good, nobody deserves this suffering.
