Mountain Resort Koh Lipe

Getting around the hill was easy thanks to the shuttle, which ran every 15 minutes in the afternoons. Down at the beach, the hammocks were incredibly comfortable and perfect for relaxing by the sea. Our room was a dream, with postcard-worthy views of Koh Lipe that I won’t forget. The amenities were fantastic and convenient, and the staff made the stay special. They were exceptionally attentive, respectful, and genuinely affectionate, and made us feel so welcome. An unforgettable experience at the Mountain Resort!

The shuttle to walking street was very convenient, and its drivers were polite and careful. The rest of the stay was frustrating. The rooms seemed 50+ years old and weren’t cleaned properly, with dust everywhere. There was chalk on the bathroom appliances and a lot of ceiling mold, which made the whole room smell. The breakfast buffet was dirty too. The food looked unappealing and barely tasted of anything, so we didn’t eat there again after the first morning. Reception staff hardly spoke English. We had told them we were checking out early because of the hotel conditions and ordered a taxi the day before leaving. On departure day they didn’t know we were checking out, the taxi arrived 20 minutes late, and it dropped us at the wrong pier. We ended up late for our boat check-in.

We stayed in a grand delux room, and it was amazing, spotlessly clean with powerful A/C that could stay on when we left. Breakfast had loads of variety and an incredible view over the islands from north point beach. The best beach is just a few steps downstairs, and there’s a free shuttle into town from 6-10pm. The restaurant staff seemed unhappy, but still gave professional service as trained. They looked overworked, constantly from 7am to 5pm, with so many guests. Please treat them well, their schedules are brutal. For the money, this place is exceptional value, and we’ll definitely come back on our next visit.

The location makes relaxing easy, with clear water and snorkeling spots close by, and the beachfront views are beautiful. Our room was spotless and had modern comforts, and the staff were genuinely lovely and helpful. A couple of things could be better. The ponds between the bungalows seem to draw a lot of mosquitoes, and I was killing at least 20 a day in the bathroom. Draining or screening them would help. Google Maps can also send you on a wild goose chase through back alleys when you're walking back from Walking Street, especially late when there are often no taxis or tuk-tuks around. Resort maps would be a big help. Still, I'd recommend staying here.
