The Chic Lipe - Hostel

The dorm beds are probably the widest I've slept in at a hostel, and the ceilings are very high. Each bed has a big built-in locker, easy to reach without going to a separate locker elsewhere in the room, plus blackout curtains. The dorms stay very cold with two AC units per room. You can ask the front desk to change your sheets during your stay. The whole hostel has high ceilings and roomy common areas with lots of tables and chairs. Shoes stay downstairs, while the dorm rooms are upstairs. They give you a towel at check-in. There are free water refills and a refrigerator on both the first and second floors. Bathrooms and showers were fine, though the shower water was room temperature or cold. There's a laundry machine, too.

I liked the large lockers built into each bed and the curtains, which let me sleep even with the lights on. I booked a dorm bed. What I didn't like was having to pay to play pool, and one staff member was impolite.

The only thing keeping this from five stars is the mosquito problem, especially in the common areas. Sort that out and I'd gladly give it five, maybe even bonus stars. It's a really good hostel, with the best vibes and aesthetic on the island. One of the best I've stayed in across South East Asia, and it feels chic, with solid rooms and a great common area.

A comfortable, nice double room in a great location. It was disappointing to be asked to pay extra for another pillow when we'd already paid a decent amount for the room. Everywhere else we stayed had provided one for free. As other guests have said, a small gesture like that would've gone a long way.
