Green World Palace Hotel

The hotel sits between the old town and the modern city center, and the price in Songkla is really good for what you get. Our room was unexpectedly upgraded to a junior suite with lovely city and mountain views. The building is old, but very well maintained, with the facilities you need. The balcony was a bonus, the pool was nice, and the Wi-Fi worked well. We liked the food and the breakfast selection, too. Service was good, and the room smell was aired out okay. One issue: you can't adjust the air conditioner temperature. If you want to eat outside the hotel, you have to walk a bit, though it isn't very far. I'd gladly recommend it.

There are a few massage parlors nearby, and parking is available. It's an old hotel in Songkla, but the cleanliness is up to date. Breakfast was average.

A pool is a nice thing to have in Songkhla, where not many hotels offer one. You might also get a pleasant sea view, if you're lucky. This is an older, traditional Thai-style hotel, much like the ones found in provincial cities. It's clean enough if you're not fussy, though don't expect international five-star standards. Having your own transport helps, since the hotel isn't as close to the sea as the pictures make it look.

This was our first try. There were about eight of us, two cars, two grandmas and two children, coming from the park to the front. We walked through the front and dashed over, helping to carry things. We weren't a big tourist group. I came a long way from the USA and wanted to try Darien, but there was no Darien here. No, no, no. Sorry, but on the next trip my tips could be worse for the smile of durien.
