We loved unwinding here after long bike rides around the historical sites, especially swimming in the deep pool with fresh water and shady trees all around it. Pinpao is an older guesthouse, but it's well kept, and the rooms are clean, simple, and nicely decorated by Pinthong and Paolo, who also run the more upscale Orchid and Hibiscus guesthouse across the way. Rooms have a bath, a large bed with mosquito nets, a wardrobe, and a table. Only a few have windows. We may come back. We visited in December 2019.

For 1000 bhat, it's cheap accommodation with a lovely poor at the back. Staff were nice, and bike rental is within walking distance. Breakfast was banana, a fresh sunny egg, toast, and rice pudding.

If you have a car and are considering this price range, I'd choose "Sukhothai Grand Resort and Spa." It's much farther away, but the price difference is small and the stay is far more relaxing. The rooms there are huge, the AC gets ice cold, and the bathrooms have a lot of space. Pinpao is closer to tourist attractions and may suit visitors without a car better, so it comes down to preference. For me, the guesthouse felt too cramped and old. The bed takes up almost the whole room, and the bathroom is so narrow it's hard to stretch your arms. That's why I'm giving it one star.

The welcome was really friendly, and breakfast was perfectly decent. The price looks appealing, but the value may have been better over ten years ago, when everything was new. Time has passed and upkeep hasn't kept pace. The bedding is very, very firm. It was probably a nice place once.

It felt a bit eerie when I first went in, though nothing happened. The hotel had just finished cleaning on the day I arrived, and it seems like an older place that must have been popular before. The room was okay, but there was still dust on the sheets and blankets, and the bathroom wasn't very good. I understand it may have just reopened for the Loy Krathong festival, but those things need attention. There's no breakfast, either. For the room's condition, the price felt a little high.
